Human rights postcards

Client: Amnesty International
Services: Concept - Art Direction - Illustration

Amnesty International is a global human rights organisation working to protect freedom, dignity, and justice worldwide.

For this project, Amnesty commissioned a series of four illustrated postcards. Each postcard features a human rights–related quote by a key figure connected to Amnesty’s history and values. Amnesty provided the quotes, while I developed the visual concepts and illustrations to translate these messages into a clear, accessible visual series.

I created the illustrations to feel positive, hopeful, and universal, supporting broad public engagement beyond Amnesty’s core audience. I worked with bright, bold colours and graphic compositions to reinforce themes of resilience, connection, and optimism.

The postcards address core human rights topics including access to education, women’s rights, freedom of expression, and collective resilience.

The 4 featured quotes:

1. “Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.”
Peter Benenson, founder of Amnesty International
2. “The more they imprison us, the stronger we become.”
Narges Mohammadi, Nobel Peace Prize laureate 2023
3. “Freedom of expression is the foundation of human rights and the mother of truth.” Liu Xiaobo, Nobel Peace Prize laureate 2010
4. “One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world.” Malala Yousafzai, Nobel Peace Prize laureate

The postcards are available for purchase on Amnesty's website.
